Birthday Goals Check-in

You guys! This time next week I will officially be 26. Every year I set goals for myself to accomplish by the following. Since my birthday is next week, I decided to reflect back on the goals I set last year. I have a full post on this, but here are the goals I set below.

Here’s what I accomplished from my list:
Plan a trip and go on it
I am happy to say that I did plan a mini trip for my boyfriend and me to go to Baltimore. It was a quick weekend getaway, but we had a lot of fun. We’ve also traveled a few times to see his family in Illinois and Florida. We’re saving up for a bigger trip in the next year or two depending on where we both are with our jobs and such.

Start seriously saving for retirement
I finally got around to opening up a 401K this year, and now I am looking into a healthcare plan. Man, adulting is (not) fun.

Volunteer
After a few training classes, I have started volunteering at an animal shelter as a dog walker. I lost my family dog, Otis in March and I am unable to adopt another dog at this time, so I knew that I wanted to volunteer. I really enjoy walking the dogs, and although it is hard to leave them in the shelter, I am happy to give what I can at this time. I look forward to the day I can save another animal.

And here’s what I didn’t get to:
Go Cruelty-free
Honestly, I’m not 100% cruelty-free yet. It’s still an aspiration of mine.

Meditate more
I did attempt a few yoga classes, but this is not something I’ve stuck too. I did enjoy a few of the classes, but I find it hard to make the time for this. Better luck next year I guess. 🙂

In addition to the goals above, I accomplished getting a new job and my first apartment; which were two things that were weighing on me this time last year.

It’s crazy looking back on how much has changed since then. There were a lot of ups and downs over the year. When I first moved out, I really missed my family, and losing my dog was totally devastating. Now, I am really enjoying my new town and my new job, and so many other exciting things have happened.

What are some goals that you have set for yourself this year?

Thanks for reading!

I’m 26 next week as well. It must feel really rewarding volunteering at an animal shelter. I’ve gone cruelty-free with all my skincare, and now need to change my makeup and hopefully clothes. I’ve noticed cruelty-free products and I guess natural, just feel so much nicer on my skin and leave it much more smoother.
I hope you have an amazing birthday next week and here’s to achieving more goals! 🙂
