A Life Update: Where I’ve Been & Where Dishing Up Chic Is Heading
It feels good to be writing here again. It is like opening the door to a familiar, cozy room. I haven’t visited it in a while.
Dishing Up Chic has quietly sat in the background of my life for a long time. It was waiting patiently until I was ready to return.
And now, in this new season of cozy days, home life, and motherhood, it feels like the perfect time. It feels right to come back. I want to share where I’ve been. I’ll also share where this space is headed next.
Where I’ve Been
These past few years have held some of the biggest moments of my life.
I got engaged.
I got married.
We built a life together.
We welcomed our sweet baby boy.
And somewhere between wedding planning, building a home, and becoming a mother, I discovered how much joy I find in the simple, everyday things:
A simmering pot on the stove.
Folded laundry.
A freshly made bed.
A baby on my hip.
Creating a home that feels warm and safe for my family.
Homemaking slowly shifted from a list of tasks into something deeper—
a way of caring,
a way of loving,
a way of creating peace,
a way of being present in the life I prayed for.
Motherhood softened me.
Marriage grounded me.
And home became the place where I pour so much of my heart.
Realizing What Dishing Up Chic Was Always Meant to Be
When I started this blog years ago, long before I was a wife or mother, I had no idea what it would eventually become. I was simply sharing what I loved at the time. This included recipes, cozy touches, and DIY projects. These were little homemaking-inspired things I didn’t recognize as homemaking yet.
Looking back now, it feels obvious:
Dishing Up Chic was always meant to be a homemaking blog.
I just needed time to grow into the season it was created for.
Life had to happen first.
I had to live it.
Now I’m here in the thick of motherhood and marriage. This space finally makes sense in a new way.
Where Dishing Up Chic Is Heading
This next chapter will be a blend of all the things that make up my real, everyday life. Nothing overly curated. Nothing unattainable. Just warm, practical, meaningful living.
Here’s what you’ll find as I step back into this space:
Simple, cozy cooking
Realistic meals that nourish a growing family, weeknight dinners, seasonal recipes, crockpot favorites, postpartum-friendly meals, and the everyday food that fills our table.
Gentle homemaking
Cleaning routines, organizing a small space, cozy home tips, Sunday resets, seasonal touches, and the rhythms that keep life feeling calm and intentional.
Motherhood
A softer approach to raising babies, daily routines, postpartum thoughts, what’s working for us right now, and honest glimpses into the beautiful, exhausting, magical season of being a mom.
Lifestyle
Marriage, personal growth, cozy moments, and simple joys that make life feel full.
My Heart for This Space
I want Dishing Up Chic to feel like sitting in a friend’s kitchen:
Warm light fills the room. A baby is playing nearby. Dinner is bubbling on the stove. We are having an honest conversation about the things that matter most. These include home, family, food, and the little daily moments that make life feel good.
If you’re building your own version of home…
If you’re navigating motherhood…
If you’re craving simplicity…
If you’re trying to find beauty in the everyday…
You belong here.
Here’s to the Next Chapter
I’m so happy you’re here.
Here’s to cozy meals, soft routines, and the kind of homemaking that nurtures the people we love (including ourselves).
Here’s to the memories we’re making in the spaces we call home.
And here’s to welcoming you into this next chapter of Dishing Up Chic.
🤍
Samantha
