Cheap Date Ideas: Wine and Cheese Night At Home

I think once you move in with your significant other things change a bit. When my boyfriend and I were doing the long-distance thing, we were going out every weekend. Now that we live together, we feel a lot more settled. Our priorities have also changed. We’re looking towards the future and tightening our budget a bit.

Of course, we still go on dates, but we have been trying to do things that cost less money. Last weekend we had a great at-home date night, and it was really nice.

Staying home doesn’t make you a loser, and it doesn’t have to suck the romance out of your relationship. Between my boyfriend, and I, our lives are so busy, I love when we have no obligations on the weekends and can do whatever we want. Sometimes that’s an adventure, other times it’s enjoying our cute apartment and watching a movie.

Date nights at home are perfect for when you’ve had a long week, or if you have kids and can’t find a sitter, there are so many reasons that make staying at home a great date night.

Last weekend, my boyfriend I decided to pick up a few bottles of wine and make ourselves a cheese platter. You can go all out here and buy expensive bottles and specialty cheeses, olives and so on. But we picked up cheap bottles of wine, which taste just fine to me. For our cheese board, we went to our local Aldi and got olives and a few different types of cheeses. We also had some nuts and things at home so our night was really inexpensive.

All in all, we had a great night talking, laughing and unwinding from the week. One suggestion I have is to make this a phone free night. My boyfriend and I ditch our phones from time to time; if we’re eating dinner during the week, going for a walk or having a date night. It really helps eliminate distractions and spend quality time together.

I can’t wait until our next cheap date night. Here some ideas that you can use. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest because I also pinned a bunch of ideas there! Ultralight-00100dPORTRAIT-00100-BURST20180525190224427-COVER
